Our story
A paradise built on love
Nestled in the breathtaking Glasshouse Mountains of Queensland, Parrots in Paradise Sanctuary began with a single bird and an unshakeable belief — that every parrot deserves a safe, loving home.
How it all began
It started simply enough — a rescued bird, a warm heart, and a spare room. What grew from that first act of compassion is now one of Queensland's most beloved parrot sanctuaries, tucked into the lush foothills of the Glasshouse Mountains.
Over the years, word spread. Birds arrived from all corners of the state — surrendered by families who could no longer cope, rescued from neglect, or simply in need of a second chance. Each one was welcomed, assessed, and given the time and care they needed to heal and thrive.
Today, the sanctuary is home to dozens of resident birds and has successfully rehomed hundreds more. We run on love, community, and the tireless dedication of our volunteers.
Our mission
Rescue
We take in parrots and birds in need — surrendered, neglected, or simply lost — and give them the safety and stability they deserve.
Rehabilitate
Every bird receives individualised care, enrichment, and patience. We work at their pace, not ours, until they're ready to flourish.
Rehome
We match birds with carefully vetted forever families — people who understand their needs and are committed to a lifetime of care.
Educate
We share knowledge freely — about parrot behaviour, nutrition, enrichment, and welfare — so every bird in Queensland has a better life.
The heart behind the sanctuary
The sanctuary was founded by a passionate bird lover who simply couldn't turn away a bird in need. What began as one rescue quickly became a calling — and then a community.

Our wonderful volunteers
The sanctuary runs entirely on the dedication of our volunteer team. From early-morning feeds to afternoon enrichment sessions, our volunteers pour their hearts into every bird in our care. We are endlessly grateful for each and every one of them.
